For those of you that haven’t ever heard of it, there’s a trade magazine that focuses it’s entire publication on the subject of your fingernails. Aptly it’s called NAILS magazine. It covers everything from the hottest colors, celebrity trends, acrylics, decals, natural nails, technicians, manicurists, salons…basically everything that has to do with nails!

As they do every year, they are getting ready to put out the NAILS Annual Readers’ Choice Awards issue where the readers vote for their favorites. We are tremendously honored to be nominated in 6 categories! Can you believe that Dermelect, the NY skin care company, is being recognized for our anti-aging nail treatments alongside the “big dogs” of the nails industry: OPI, Essie, CND, etc. This is tremendously humbling. It’s also getting our competitive juices flowing. After all, who doesn’t like a good Cinderella story or David vs. Goliath battle.

CEW Awards Demonstration Night- Dermelect Timeless Hand Treatment

Last night we had a blast at the CEW Award Demonstration Event at the Metropolitan Pavillion in NYC. Here’s how it works. Our Dermelect Timeless Anti-Aging Daily Hand Treatment has been nominated by the CEW (Cosmetics Executive Women) organization for Best in Beauty Prestige Body Treatment. Last night, Christina Ambers (super hand model) presented our nominated treatment to voting members of the CEW as well as members of the beauty/fashion press and other beauty world “it” people. A tremendous turnout, not to mention a tremendous response to our grease-free, anti-aging formulation. U.S. Hand Hygiene is Improving!

People in this country appear to be embracing hand hygiene more than in past years– especially with the threat of the H1N1 flu virus (also known as swine flu).

The fifth annual Clean Hands Report Card issued by The Soap and Detergent Association (SDA), America’s grade for hand hygiene has risen from a C- in 2008 to a B-. The Report Card is based on a series of hygiene-related questions asked of 888 Americans during a telephone survey conducted in August 2009.

Among the good news of SDA’s 2009 survey:

• 62% of women say they wash their hands more than 10 times per day (up from 36%).
• 70% wash up at least 7 times per day (up from 62%).
• Across the board, more Americans claim to always wash their hands before eating lunch, after coughing or sneezing and after using the bathroom.
